Solutions for Small Spaces

Not every house has room for a wine cellar. Or, maybe you live in an apartment. In either instance, finding a suitable place to store your wine collection requires a little creativity. Consider these ideas for wine storage in a small space.

Take to the walls. If your house or apartment lacks floor space, hang a wine rack or wine cube on the wall. Just remember to use heavy duty wall anchors and to pick a site that’s located well away from the heating vent and air conditioner.

Look inside a closet or armoire. A walk-in closet is a great place to install a home wine cellar, but if you don’t have even that much extra space, consider using all or part of a linen closet, or even a piece of furniture to store your wine collection. Freestanding wine racks can be inserted into an armoire or a linen closet. What’s more, you can take your “wine cellar” with you when you move.

Look under and on top of the furniture. Look at all of that “dead” space under the coffee table. Match wooden wine racks with the style and finish of your furniture and set one on the bottom rung of the coffee table instead of the usual books or photo albums. Alternately, a wine rack adds style to your dining room atop the sideboard.
