Where should I put my wine cellar?
One of the first considerations when building a home wine cellar is where to put it. Two things should be paramount: convenience and temperature. Even the most beautiful and luxurious wine cellar won’t get used if it’s difficult to reach or far from your dining area.
Temperature is a major factor. Wine keeps best in temperatures under 70 degrees (but above freezing), with few temperature fluctuations. Some spaces are naturally cool, such as a former storm cellar or a basement. Other areas will need a temperature control system. If you are using such a system, make sure that your space has easy access to electricity.
The best location for your home wine cellar is where convenience meets the right temperature.
